Q: What size group can you accommodate?
A: Typically, we like to have at least 10 people on a trip, and we can accommodate teams of up to 25 people, depending on location.
Q: How does the trip planning process work?
A: Our Trip Department will plan the entire trip alongside your group leaders. Leaders are provided training materials and in most circumstances a Sports Outreach staff member will accompany the group on the trip. Whether your team is a church, youth group, organization or business we would love to make the trip planning process easy for you.
Q: What is the cost?
A: The cost varies depending on the country, length of the trip, time of year, the cost of flights, and the group size. Costs include airfare and all in-country expenses unless otherwise noted. Typically, costs for entral America range from $1,500-2,500 and Africa $3,000-$4,000.
Q: Can I fundraise? If so, what is the best method?
A: We support your team along the way by providing trip letter templates, fundraising ideas and encouragement. Through our mission trip platform, Service Reef, you will be able to create a personalized fundraising page that you can share with family and friends through social media.
Q: Do I need vaccines before going on a trip?
A: Most countries will require you to get certain vaccines before being allowed into the country. A lot of those are covered in routine vaccinations. But some are not, most notably the Yellow Fever vaccine which is required for travel to Uganda and Kenya. All of the advice we give travelers comes from the CDC website. We also pass along tips from staff who frequently travel to our international ministry sites.
Q: Will it be safe?
A: We have been sending people on mission trips for decades. Each of our trip locations has indigenous staff who reside in the area where you will be visiting. We are constantly checking in with them throughout the year and they are always very cautious and protective of our mission teams. An indigenous Sports Outreach staff member will be accompanying your team throughout the entire trip.
Q: Should we purchase insurance?
A: As part of every trip, Sports Outreach acquires travel insurance for every participant.
